Avalanche Summary

You can trigger large and dangerous avalanches on steep slopes that have recent wind-drifted snow on top of weak snow. Avalanches can break deep into the old snow and can break wider and run farther than you expect so give steep slopes extra space. You may trigger one of these avalanches from a distance or from below. Sticking to slopes less than about 30 degrees will help you avoid triggering an avalanche.
