You can trigger wet avalanches anywhere you find more than about four inches of wet snow. You'll need a melt-freeze crust that is supportable underfoot to travel safely. When this crust melts, and you begin to sink into the snowpack, you are more likely to trigger wet avalanches. Start and end your day early to find safer conditions.
