Avalanche Summary

Pockets of wind-drifted snow below ridges or funneled gullies and weak, cohesionless snow in wind-sheltered areas are the main hazards to identify and avoid on slopes over 35 degrees. Each problem can catch you off guard and sweep you down the mountain through rocks or trees below.
