Avalanche Summary

A foot or more of new snow will be enough to raise the avalanche danger. On many slopes, the new snow will fall on bare ground, but where strong winds drift the snow onto steep north or east-facing slopes, you might trigger a small slab avalanche. Small avalanches could have relatively bigger consequences since many steep slopes will end in open creeks or exposed rocks.
