You can trigger a dangerous avalanche on northwest through north to east-facing slopes near and above treeline. The easiest way to avoid being caught in a dangerous slab avalanche by avoiding travel on or under large, steep slopes that face these directions. Safer travel options exist on south-facing slopes, but if you notice your feet sinking past your ankles into wet snow, consider avoiding very steep terrain.
