Avalanche Summary

The avalanche danger will increase throughout the day as a winter storm impacts the area. If you are traveling in the backcountry and find a foot or more of new snow resting on either weak, cohesionless snow or a hard crust, you can trigger small avalanches on steep slopes. Most of these avalanches will be relatively harmless, but can knock you over and drag you down a slope, so be aware of terrain traps such as creeks or cliffs beneath you.
