Forecast Weather Influences: Showers throughout the forecast period will initially fall as snow above around 500 metres, turning to rain below 700 metres as the freezing level rises through the day. Winds will be strong mainly Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: Heavy rain at all levels this morning turned to snow above around 300 metres as the freezing level lowered. Strong mainly westerly winds. The freezing level lowered from above the summits to around 600 metres by the end of the day. ObservedSnowStability: After a period of instability last night and early this morning, the snowpack is now consolidating. The snow surface is beginning to refreeze in the colder temperatures. Snowpack stability is generally good. The avalanche hazard is Low.
