Avalanche Activity

Locally rolled snow slabs and cushions on hard ground.

SMALL (1st degree) avalanche danger applies to the whole mountain range of Veľká and Malá Fatra. On the hard firn base, which can be found only mainly on the northern orientations, there will be locally snow slabs and pillows unbound with the base. Small avalanches are particularly likely to be released on steep slopes, mainly at high additional loads.

Snowpack Structure

Due to the arrival of the cold front, the old firn snow is hard wearing on all orientations. During the day, light snowfall up to 5cm is expected, accompanied by fresh winds. Locally, snow slabs and pillows will form on hard ground, which will not be interbedded with the ground.

Tendency

Due to snowfall during the day rising.
