Near the 3-considerable danger zones and as you climb higher in altitude, danger spots are more widespread.
As a consequence of new snow and a moderate wind from variable directions, mostly shallow wind slabs will form in the late morning in particular adjacent to ridgelines. The danger of dry avalanches will increase but remain within the current danger level. Single winter sport participants can release avalanches, including medium-sized ones. Mostly they are shallow, caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls, and on very steep slopes in particular above the tree line. The avalanche prone locations are barely recognisable. On very steep shady slopes the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack and reach quite a large size. Slopes that have been little used this winter thus far are especially unfavourable. Maintaining distances between individuals is recommended. As a consequence of warming, the natural avalanche activity will slowly increase, in particular in case of releases originating from very steep starting zones.
Friday: 10 to 15 cm of snow, but less in some localities, will fall above approximately 1600 m. Wednesday: 5 to 10 cm of snow, but less in some localities, has fallen above approximately 1500 m. Tuesday: 5 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen above approximately 2000 m. The fresh snow and especially the wind-blown snow drifts, both soft and hard, cover a thin layer of old snow and partly also surface hoar. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on west, north and east facing slopes. Since Wednesday on very steep slopes small and medium-sized avalanches occurred naturally, in particular avalanches with origins in high-altitude starting zones.
The weather conditions will facilitate a slow strengthening of the snowpack. The danger will persist.
