Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will become increasingly wet overnight and will be thawing at all levels, however it will be generally stable throughout. Limited potential for wet snow surface instabilities on steep North-West to North-East aspects above 950 metres. Although the snowpack will diminish, good coverage will remain on South-West through North-West to North-East aspects above 850 metres and on the White Mounth. Remaining cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Rain to all levels through Sunday night, then drier in the daytime when the freezing level will drop to around summit level. Gale force Southerly winds overnight will veer South-South West while decreasing to strong. Observed Weather Influences: Light precipitation, which fell as snow to around 700 metres overnight, progressively turned to rain at all levels as the freezing level rose to well above the summits. Very strong Southerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh isolated and shallow deposits of windslab were forming through Saturday night and into the morning in steep wind sheltered areas on North-West to North-East aspects above 950 metres. As it turned mild later these deposits were consolidating and thawing. Elsewhere the snowpack is stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
