Forecast Snow Stability: Recent windslab will start to consolidate with a good deal of the snow becoming well bonded and stable. Deeper accumulations, in steeper wind sheltered locations on North through East to South aspects above 800 metres will contain moderately bonded deposits. Recently formed small cornices will remain fragile. Westerly facing slopes and exposed locations will be scoured and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Light rain or drizzle expected during the early morning and late afternoon. Moderate Westerly winds overnight, increasing to become strong West-South-Westerly during the afternoon. Freezing level rising over the summits during the night, giving steady thaw conditions throughout the period. Observed Weather Influences: A dry and bright day with strong West-North-Westerly winds. Freezing level around 750 to 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh accumulations of moderately bonded windslab have formed overnight in wind sheltered locations on mainly North-East to South-East aspects above 750 metres. North and South aspects have also been affected, to a lesser degree, by cross-loaded deposits. Small wind features have started to form. Windward aspects and exposed locations are scoured and stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
