Avalanche Activity

Little snow will fall in some localities.

The southeasterly wind has transported only a little snow. In particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls, above approximately 3500 m: The fresh wind slabs can be released easily or naturally. Some small and medium-sized loose snow avalanches are possible. As a consequence of solar radiation the prevalence of these avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses.

Snowpack Structure

15 to 20 cm of snow, and up to 30 cm in some localities, has fallen above approximately 2000 m. The new snow of Sunday has bonded quite well with the old snowpack. The old snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a crust that is strong in many cases. Less snow than usual is lying. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack.

Tendency

During the day: Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of new snow and wind.
