Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.

In all aspects and on steep slopes small to medium-sized loose snow avalanches are possible. New snow and wind slabs can to an increasing extent be released, even by small loads in isolated cases. Adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls the likelihood of avalanches is higher.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow and wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects. In addition large surface-area wind slabs formed adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls in all aspects. As a consequence of rain up to approximately 1900 m a crust formed on the surface. In many places there is a danger of falling on the icy crust. 5 to 10 cm of snow will fall.
