Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of unstable windslab will persist on North-West to North-East aspects and develop overnight on West aspects above around 800 metres. Fragile cornices will be present above these aspects. Aspects exposed to the wind will generally be scoured and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Fresh Easterly winds overnight, ease in the morning and become light and variable in the afternoon. Showers will fall as snow above around 600 metres overnight and 800 metres during the day. The freezing level will be around 800 metres overnight, rising to 1000 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Gale force Southerly winds with precipitation falling as snow above around 700 metres today. The freezing level was around 750 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of moderately bonded windslab are present mainly on North-West to North-East aspects above 850 metres with gullies, corrie rims and ridge flanks particularly affected. Fragile cornices are present above these aspects. Aspects exposed to the wind are generally scoured and stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
