Avalanche Activity

There is a danger of falling on the hard crust.

In particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls clearly visible wind slabs formed. Snow sport participants can release avalanches only in isolated cases. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area various wind slab layers are lying on the smooth surface of an old snowpack. In the vicinity of peaks the wind slabs have increased in size moderately. Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes. In particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
