Avalanche Activity

The more recent wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence.

The fresh wind slabs are to be bypassed as far as possible in high Alpine regions. At high altitude the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent. Over a wide area 5 to 10 cm of snow will fall above approximately 900 m. Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the snowfall. The avalanche danger will increase but remain within the current danger level.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of a sometimes strong wind, small wind slabs will form. Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year in all altitude zones.

Tendency

Over a wide area 30 to 40 cm of snow will fall on Saturday above approximately 1300 m. Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the snowfall.
