Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche where recent winds deposited snow into thick slabs that rest on top of a weak layer near the ground. You can trigger one of these avalanches from a distance or below a steeper slope. Create extra space between your route and potential runout zones. Shooting cracks and collapsing are signs of instability, but they may not be present before you trigger a large avalanche.
