A little new snow is just enough to raise the danger. Westerly winds have and will continue to build drifts near and above treeline. On northerly and easterly-facing slopes, one might break deeper on old buried weak layers, growing larger in size. If you avoid these wind-drifted areas and stick to unconsolidated wind-sheltered snow, you can avoid the problem spots.
