Highlights

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. Recent strong winds during the past few days and some new snow have created dense slabs that lie upon weak layers of faceted snow near the ground. Pockets of these slabs could be released in steep wind loaded areas by backcountry users. Saturday a skier was partially buried and self rescued near Breccia Peak where other avalanche activity was observed. These slabs will become more sensitive today on steep sunlit aspects as warming occurs.
