Highlights
The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE this morning and will increase to CONSIDERABLE this afternoon as snow continues to fall today. New snow and wind have deposited new surface slabs in avalanche terrain. These slabs could have depths to a foot in wind loaded areas this morning and will increase in size and sensitivity as the day progresses. In the afternoon today these slabs could be easily released by backcountry users. Once triggered these slabs could pull out deeper layers of snow to three feet in depth on steep slopes particularly near cliff and rocky areas.
