Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche where you find more than about 8 inches of new or wind-drifted snow. You will most likely find this below ridgelines, in gullies and along vegetation and terrain breaks. Avoid rounded pillows of firm snow. If the pillows crack when you weight them head to lower-angled slopes or wind-sheltered terrain.
