Avalanche Summary
An Avalanche Watch is in effect for the Grand and Battlement Mesas. HIGH (4 of 5) avalanche danger will develop late Thursday and last into Friday as a potent storm brings strong winds and heavy snowfall.
Drifing snow will accumulate during the day Thursday, making it easier to trigger a large avalanche. An avalanche in motion will probably break deeper into buried weak layers, quickly gaining enough volume to bury you in larger avalanche paths. Keep terrain choices conservative and avoid travel on or below slopes steeper than about 30 degrees.
