It is becoming harder to trigger avalanches as the pattern of warm days and solid freezes overnight continues. Although triggering an avalanche is unlikely, it is not impossible. Above treeline, if you notice shooting cracks in isolated pockets of wind-drifted snow, keep your terrain choices less than 35 degrees. At lower elevations, if you feel yourself beginning to punch through a wet snowpack, it is time to head for lower-angled or shadier slopes.
