Avalanche Summary

Heavy snow during the day will make conditions more dangerous. You can easily trigger an avalanche in drifted snow at upper elevations. Avoid rounded pillows of drifted snow on steep slopes below ridges, in gullies, and behind convex rollovers. These may be firm underfoot and can crack when weighted. Avoiding these pillows and seeking out sheltered or lower-angled slopes are ways to reduce your hazard.
