Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of unstable windslab will persist in high wind sheltered locations mainly on steep South-East through South to West aspects above 800 metres. Terrain most affected will include tops of gullies, coire rims and ridge flanks. Any recently developed cornices will be fragile. Elsewhere, there will be a dusting of new snow, most notably on windward aspects. Areas of old snow will be firm. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Showers, wintry above 650 metres, will peter out overnight to give a largely bright and dry day with sunny spells likely. Severe Northerly gales at first will ease throughout the forecast period, becoming fresh North-Easterly late afternoon. The freezing level will hover around 750 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A day of persistent rain turning to blustery heavy showers in the afternoon with snow lying above 650 metres. Strong Northerly airflow, summit gales. Freezing level around 700 metres in the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: Accumulations of unstable windslab are present in steep wind sheltered locations mainly on South-East through South to West aspects above 800 metres. Elsewhere, there is a dusting of new snow above 650 metres, most notably on windward aspects. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
