The Avalanche Warning Service currently has only a small amount of information that has been collected in the field. Along the border with France and along the border with Switzerland 5 to 10 cm of snow fell during the night above approximately 2200 m. Until Wednesday the wind will be moderate to strong adjacent to ridgelines. The fresh and older wind slabs are to be found especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls as well as at high altitudes and in the high Alpine regions. They are mostly small and can be released in isolated cases. These avalanche prone locations are to be found on extremely steep slopes. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls. Significant decrease in danger of moist snow slides as the temperature drops.

In all aspects snow depths vary greatly above approximately 2200 m, depending on the infuence of the wind. Below approximately 2000 m: A little snow is lying on south facing slopes. Shady slopes: The snowpack consists of faceted crystals and has faceted crystals on the surface. Below approximately 2000 m: As a consequence of rain a crust formed on the surface. The new snow of yesterday is lying on a crust on sunny slopes.

The avalanche danger will persist.
