Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of windslab will continue to develop overnight and early morning affecting gully tops and coire rims mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 1100 metres. Fresh cornices above these aspects will be fragile. At lower elevations the thin snow cover will rapidly diminish. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Precipitation will initially fall as snow above 900 metres turning gradually to rain at most levels with snow on the highest summits. The freezing level will rise to around 1300 metres. Westerly winds initially will back South-Westerly and increase to gale force. Observed Weather Influences: Snow showers through the day on strong West-North-Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 650 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Isolated areas of fresh windslab are beginning to develop at the tops of some steep East and South-East aspects above 1100m, these areas are generally not extensive. Small fresh cornices are beginning to develop above these locations. Elsewhere a covering of fresh snow generally overlies bare ground. The avalanche hazard is Low.
