New snow represents the main danger.
New snow represents the main danger.
Up to 40 cm of snow has fallen since yesterday above approximately 2000 m. The new snow of the last few days is poorly bonded with the old snowpack. In particular extremely steep west, north and east facing slopes, above approximately 1800 m: Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are possible. The avalanches can be released by small loads. In addition the fresh wind slabs must be taken into account. This applies above the tree line.
Over a wide area new snow is lying on a moist old snowpack. In some places new snow is lying on the smooth surface of an old snowpack. The new snow of the last three days is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. The weather conditions on Sunday will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack in some cases.
The avalanche danger will persist. Considerable, level 3.
