Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of unstable windslab will continue to form in areas sheltered from the South-Westerly winds. Greatest accumulations will be on steep North, North-East and East aspects above 900 metres. Cornices will also form above these aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.
Forecast Weather Influences: Snow showers are expected at all levels through out the period with moderate to strong South-Westerly winds over the summits. Observed Weather Influences: Snow showers and strong North-Westerly winds. The freezing level rose to around 1050 metres for around 6 hours early in the morning before gradually lowering to 500 metres during the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: Areas of unstable windslab have continued to form in sheltered locations. Greatest accumulations are on sheltered North, North-East and East aspects above 1000 metres. At lower elevations, the snowpack has started to re-freeze. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
