Currently there are quite favourable conditions generally. There is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. Avalanches can be released, mostly by large loads in isolated cases. In particular on steep shady slopes they can be released in deep layers of the snowpack and reach medium size in isolated cases. The avalanche prone locations are rare and are barely recognisable, even to the trained eye. The natural avalanche activity has rapidly decreased. Temporary increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day. Individual moist avalanches are possible, even medium-sized ones. At the base of rock walls a moderate danger of moist and wet avalanches will be encountered in some localities.
Field observations show good snowpack stability. As a consequence of falling temperatures the snowpack consolidated during the last few days. Towards its surface, the snowpack is hard and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is strong in many cases. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on steep northeast, north and northwest facing slopes. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads here. In all regions in all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
The avalanche danger will increase a little during the day.
