The older wind slabs are to be found especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally in the high Alpine regions. They can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases on very steep shady slopes. Avalanches can in some cases be triggered in the old snowpack and reach medium size in particular on steep shady slopes. The solar radiation will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular on sunny slopes. The danger of moist and wet avalanches will increase during the day. Backcountry tours, off-piste skiing and ascents to alpine cabins should be concluded timely.
The conditions are spring-like. The solar radiation will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack especially at intermediate and high altitudes. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded still only poorly with each other and the old snowpack. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak. At low and intermediate altitudes from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
The conditions in the morning, after a clear night, are favourable. Increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation.
