Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight the winds will be storm force South-Westerly accompanied by rain at all levels with the freezing level well above the summits. During the morning the winds will begin to decrease in strength as they veer North-Westerly. The freezing level will drop to summit level around dawn and further to 600 metres by the end of the forecast period. Any light showers during the day will be of snow on the highest summits. Observed Weather Influences: A mild, wet and very windy day. Summit temperatures around plus 5 celsius at midday. ObservedSnowStability: There is next to no snow. Any isolated patches remaining are stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
