Avalanche Activity

Low avalanche danger, springtime weather

Avalanche danger is low. On very steep grass-covered slopes, isolated glide-snow avalanches are possible at any time of day or night, and become more likely as the time of day progresses. Glide cracks should be seen as signs of danger.

Snowpack Structure

In early morning the snowpack is melt-freeze encrusted, hard, icy. During the course of the day, the snowpack on sunny slopes softens, becomes moist. Low altitudes and south-facing slopes are already bare of snow up to high altitudes.

Weather Synopsis

Springtime weather, mild temperatures, brilliant sunshine, outstanding visibility. At midday at 2000 m: +4 degrees (zero-degree level above 2500m). Winds are southerly, blowing at light to moderate strength, will slowly shift to westerly during the daytime. In the afternoon, isolated harmless convective clouds will form.

Tendency

On Thursday, ongoingly sunny and mild. No significant change in avalanche danger expected.
