Snowpack Summary

A crust will continue to form on the surface as temperatures cool since Sunday morning and continue to drop on Monday. Underneath this crust is snow that has been moistened by Saturday's heat and rain. The early December crust is still present lower down in the snowpack, and facetted grains are likely to continue to develop on its surface with the cold temperatures forecasted. In the Alpine, rocky areas alternate with accumulations in ravines, depressions and other leeward areas. The average height of the snow cover is still very thin, from about 20-25 cm in the valley to 60-70 cm in the mid-mountains, and extremely variable from one place to another.
