Glacier.
Travel conditions are the biggest hazard to backcountry users at the moment.
The snowpack is shallow and becoming less supportive with the cooler temps. The days are short right now, but the nights are cold and lonely.
Plan accordingly and travel with caution.
No new avalanches observed within the last few days.
Expect loose snow to sluff in steep terrain.
The snowpack is thin, with an average depth of 30-40cm at 1300m, 60-100cm at treeline, and up to 120cm in the alpine in loaded areas. These values are below threshold for burying rocks, stumps, bridging crevasses, and covering creeks.
A return to average seasonal temperatures as the cold air mass leaves the region. Mix of sun and cloud for the weekend with alpine highs of -4, 10-30km/hr Northerly winds and freezing levels up to 1400m.
