Kananaskis, Bow Valley, Highwood Pass, North 40, Spray - KLakes.
Isolated pockets of wind slab at upper elevations could be triggered in steep and unsupported terrain. Early season hazards, such as shallowly buried rocks and trees, are a major concern right now. Patience!!!
Nothing new observed in the last 48hrs. A skier triggered wind slab was reported in the MIN from Nov 15.
Wind slabs are still the dominant problem in alpine areas. Ridgelines, gullies and cross-loaded features are areas to pay close attention to as you move higher in the terrain.
The snowpack at upper elevations is still very shallow and weak, with lots of early season hazards poking through. At elevations below 2100m, rain crusts from October and November are generally supportive to ski travel.
Light flurries expected Tuesday with total accumulations between 6 and 8cm. Wednesday will be overcast. Temperatures will remain relatively mild over the next few days, with strong winds early Tuesday tapering to moderate for Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday.
