Avalanche Summary

One size 3 natural avalanche in Tent Bowl that most likely occurred early Thursday morning. This avalanche went to ground and covered two thirds of the bowl.

Snowpack Summary

15-20 cm of new snow in the past 36 hrs. This snow is helping to cover some of the avalanche debris that has occurred in many places. Strong SW winds on Thursday have created wide spread wind slabs on N and E aspects in the alpine. There is a well settled mid pack that is sitting on the weak November crust/facet layer that makes up the bottom 40cm of the snow pack. These facets are still a big concern because if an avalanche occurs, it is likely to go to ground. Please see the avalanche summary.

Terrain and Travel

  • Be careful with wind loaded pockets, especially near ridge crests and roll-overs.
  • Minimize exposure to overhead avalanche terrain, large avalanches may reach the end of runout zones.
