Snow totals range 10 to 13 inches above 5,000 feet. You may find more reactive storm snow where recent winds helped thicken the surface snow or by what flavor of old snow resides immediately below. Assess new snow depths as you move through the mountains and make conservative terrain-specific evaluations while the storm snow settles. If you see cracking in the snow surface or hear audible collapses, stick to slopes around 30 degrees.
