Highlights

Moderate avalanche danger will continue into Tuesday as we may pick up another inch or two of new snow.  Wind Slab avalanches will continue to be possible at higher elevations where the wind has blown in the recent snow.  Avalanches large enough to bury or injure a rider are unlikely except on the most wind loaded slopes.

    These days have been a bit tricky with so little new snow.  Often riders may find themselves trying to find the deepest deposits of new snow for better riding.  These are the same slopes that may produce shallow Wind Slab avalanches immediately below ridgetops, or behind cross-loaded features.  If you are riding on slopes where the wind has potentially blown in the new snow, your best bet is to evaluate the depth of the new snow on lower angle or smaller slopes prior to committing to avalanche terrain.  Otherwise, look for good riding on sheltered slopes lower in the terrain that are open to the sky.

    Most avalanches will be very small, but I can't rule out an isolated large avalanche near particularly windy spots, or down wind from large open terrain that the wind can draw snow from.
