Central Cascades

There are relatively few slopes with enough snow to provide good riding, or to allow for avalanches.  There are some sustained patches of snow high on alpine slopes, but even with high temperatures and recent rain, we haven't seen much avalanche activity.

Monday brought another day of heavy rain to the mountains.  On Tuesday the weather will remain unsettled, but temperatures will be a few degrees cooler, and there is much less measurable precipitation in the forecast.  Sadly, these are conditions we've had to get used to.  The most interesting and hopeful information is in the weather forecast for the remainder of the week.  A cold front moving into the mountains early Wednesday morning will hopefully bring the first significant snow we've seen in a long time.  Thursday is forecast to be too warm again, and we'll have to cover our eyes for a moment as rain falls on that new snow.  I'm hopeful that by the end of the week we'll be in a more typical winter weather regime.
