The avalanche danger is Low at all elevations today. Isolated pockets of shallow wind slab may be encountered in very steep upper elevation terrain. Wet loose avalanches are also possible in the lower elevations in very steep sunlit terrain. Both of these types of avalanches will be low in volume. Remember that ‘Low’ danger does not mean ‘No’ danger. Maintain good travel habits by traveling one at a time in steep terrain, utilizing islands of safety and communicating your plans with your partners.

Clear skies and cooling temperatures will allow for re freezing of surfaces that softened today. Overnight lows at ridgetops will be in the low twenties, with daytime highs tomorrow reaching the mid thirties. Cloud cover will be on the increase tomorrow ahead of a system approaching from the west. Light showers will begin tomorrow with minimal accumulation expected during the day. Winds will be out of the west-southwest at 15-20mph.The avalanche danger will be Low tomorrow. Remember that “Low” danger does not mean “No” danger. Warming temperatures during the day will help to loosen the surface snow and allow for the possibility of shallow wet loose avalanche activity. Cloud cover will help to offset the effects of warm air temps on the snow. Isolated pockets of shallow wind slab may encountered in the upper elevations. Any potential avalanche activity will be low in volume. Continuing to practice safe travel habits and carrying and knowing how to use rescue gear will be just as important tomorrow as any other day. Paying attention to changing conditions will help to recognize and avoid outlier events.
