More snow is forecasted for Friday night and Saturday morning. This new snow will increase the avalanche hazard for Saturday.

Persistent Slabs

At treeline 40-50 cm of settled storm snow sits overtop of the Feb. 14 surface hoar. Althought the natural cycle we saw yesterday is over these slabs remain reactive to skier triggering. This surface hoar problem will not go away quickly.
