Highlights

There is fresh wind-blown snow in lee areas above the thaw limit from the last few days. This is likely well-stabilized, but in a few places, especially to the northeast, it can still be affected by skiers. The amounts of precipitation expected on Tuesday are forecast to be small, and new large fresh wind-blown snow slabs are considered unlikely. However, be aware that varying wind directions mean that wind-blown snow can be found in different compass directions. If the sun comes out, it may weaken the fresh new snow and trigger naturally occurring wet avalanches in steep, sun-exposed terrain.

Avalanche Activity

Tendency

When the sun softens the new snow during the day, some avalanches may release naturally. Keep a safe distance from sun-exposed steep terrain and cliffs. In northeast-facing shaded slopes, there is wind-drifted snow. This is probably well stabilized now, but as a skier it may still be possible to trigger it in certain areas. Keep a safe distance from cornices, as it is difficult to predict when they will break.
