Tetons

The snowpack at the mid and upper elevations is shallow and mostly stable. It does not have a history of producing avalanches. Normal caution is advised with respect to avalanche hazards on steep snow covered slopes. Shallow snow depths mean the risk of hitting rocks and other obstacles is a serious concern. The lower elevations lack enough snow for a danger rating.

A cold front will sag into the region from the north overnight. It will bring us stronger winds, colder air and less than an inch of snow. Winds should peak around midnight with gusts as high as 70 miles per hour on the summits. There will be lingering snow showers on Sunday with little accumulation. Temperatures in the mountains will be near 20 by daybreak and should fall into the teens during the day. West to northwest winds will slowly decrease. The general avalanche hazard is low. The existing snow is currently stable.
