Avalanche Activity

The weather will be partly cloudy over a wide area. Warming.

The avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found on steep shady slopes above approximately 2500 m. As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of wet avalanches being released will increase in particular on steep shady slopes below approximately 2500 m. Medium-sized avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack will already soften in the late morning. Above approximately 2400 m snow fell in the last few days over a wide area. As a consequence of wind, mostly shallow wind slabs formed in high Alpine regions. Steep shady slopes above approximately 2500 m: Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the old snowpack. Below approximately 2000 m from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
