Avalanches remain unlikely. Monitor for isolated instabilities in extreme terrain. Variable surfaces and generally shallow coverage remain the greatest hazards in the backcountry. 

Unseasonably warm temperatures, sunny skies, and mostly light winds continue to prevail across the forecast area.  Field observations continue to highlight variable surface conditions. While cold overnight temperatures and clear skis have led to productive surface faceting on shaded and sheltered terrain, surface crusts and wind-textured surfaces are common in more exposed terrain near and above treeline. Isolated instabilities in the form of small and stubborn Wind Slabs in extreme terrain or Wet Loose instabilities on sheltered solar aspects near terrain features that trap and radiate heat, such as tight couloirs, cliff bands, or rock outcroppings, are not out of the realm of possibility today.

The focus for backcountry travelers remains on a generally shallow snowpack and a variety of challenging surface conditions. Specialized tools like boot and/or ski crampons and an ice ax may be necessary depending on where you wish to travel today. Be particularly cautious in steep and exposed terrain where even a small avalanche could lead to a high-consequence fall.
