Forecast Snow Stability: Additional unstable windslab will continue to build in wind sheltered locations throughout the forecast period. Mostly on South-East to South-West aspects above 900 metres, especially gully tops, coire rims and convexities. East and West aspects will also be affected due to cross loading. Fragile cornices will also be present on these aspects. On other aspects and at lower elevations unconsolidated but a stable snow cover will be present. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight strong Northerly winds will ease during the day. Light snow showers are expected this evening, clearing to bring a dry morning then further snow showers developing in the afternoon. The freezing level will be around 400 metres rising to 600 metres by late morning. Observed Weather Influences: Strong Northerly winds. Continual snowfall throughout the day with significant drifting. The freezing level was around 400 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh deposits of poorly bonded windslab are present on South-East to South-West aspects above 900 metres. East and West aspects are also affected due to crossloading. Fragile cornices are present on these aspects. On other aspects and at lower elevations, significant fresh snow cover is present and is largely unconsolidated but stable. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
