As a consequence of new snow and a strong wind, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed in the last few days.
The fresh snow and the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases at elevated altitudes. Early morning: The avalanche prone locations are rather rare but are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility.
Snowpack Structure
Over a wide area 5 to 10 cm of snow, and up to 20 cm in some localities, has fallen since Monday. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak; its surface consists of loosely bonded snow. In high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
Tendency
As a consequence of new snow and strong wind there will be an increase in the avalanche danger within the current danger level.
