Highlights

When the sun softens the new snow during the day, some avalanches may release naturally. Keep a safe distance from sun-exposed steep terrain and cliffs. At higher elevations, mostly in northeast-facing shaded slopes, there is wind-drifted snow. This is probably well stabilized now, but as a skier, it may still be possible to trigger it in certain areas. Keep a safe distance from cornices, as it is difficult to predict when they will break.

Avalanche Activity

Tendency

The avalanche danger increases with increasing solar warming. Where the fresh snow becomes moist for the first time or the snow is very wet, wet avalanches may release naturally. Keep your distance from steep, sun-exposed terrain and cliffs.

Wind slabs that formed over the weekend has had time to stabilize, and it will likely take quite a bit to trigger avalanches in thoose slabs. Be aware that snow bridges over streams are opening up, and keep a good distance from cornices.
