Forecast Snow Stability: Isolated and shallow deposits of windslab will initially develop in steep wind sheltered areas on North-West to North-East aspects above 900 metres. As it turns mild there is potential for wet snow instabilities in the same places. Elsewhere the snowpack will be stable, with the snow being firm initially, turning softer later. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will be around 600 metres overnight then rise throughout the daytime to be well above the summits by the end of the forecasting period. Fresh winds generally from a Southerly direction, later increasing to become very strong. There will be light precipitation which at first will fall as snow but then turn to rain at all elevations. Observed Weather Influences: A cold, dry and bright day. There had been an overnight frost in the glens, with the freezing level rising to around 750 metres during the day. Fresh Southerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is firm, icy and stable throughout. Coverage is good on South-West through North-West to North-East aspects above 700 metres and is extensive on the White Mounth. The avalanche hazard is Low.
